Two weeks ago, our school hosted an extracurricular event titled “Volunteer Street Cleanup”. The morning was picturesque with a gentle yet invigorating breeze, and I found genuine joy in participating.
Amidst the task of collecting litter alongside a fellow female volunteer, we narrowly averted a potentially hazardous situation. A hard hat plummeted from above, narrowly missing us! It was sheer luck that we remained unscathed. Truly, it was a day blessed with good fortune. To cap it off, we were rewarded with a delectable donut in recognition of our dedication to the volunteer cause.

I went to see Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum and it was a very nice experience, even though it was raining and very cold that day I really wanted to go home and sleep, but Scott convinced me to enjoy my last Friday at school by going on this tour.
I highly recommend it because we can learn more about the local culture and expand our minds, and as an extra we have Scott’s jokes which are really funny… It should be noted that being a tour guide isn’t his strong point.

Every week, Heartland International School will organize some activities. Each tourist attraction brings students many good lessons, and above all, it helps students practice their English listening and speaking skills.
The first activity I signed up for was to visit Saint Boniface in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was on Friday afternoon, April 26th, about 21 students and one group leader, his name is Scott.
First, we went to the nearest bus stop and took the number 11 bus. That was my first time on the bus in Canada. I asked Scott about the operation, payment, and how we get off the bus. We have to 3.25$ for a 2 hour bus ride. You need to prepare for any change because the bus driver won’t give you your change. And then we came to the museum after 30 minutes, the bus stop was about 700 meters away from the museum, the path to the entrance was small with many turns. I was very lucky to see Scott waving from the door of the entrance because I got lost. The atmosphere was very quiet when we got inside, only the sound of footsteps and the voice of the tour guide could be heard. We visited the hunting zone, the medical area, the kitchen, the church, the history of Saint Boniface, and the giftshop. I was very impressive with the story about the expansion of land by Canadians and how the Government of Canada allocated and taxed agricultural land.
Until 3 P.M, the activity ended, the student took the bus back home on their way, and it was a new challenge for me to download an application about bus routes in Winnipeg, I arrived home after 40 minutes.
Finally, It was exciting! We want to have more activities like this next time!
