For me, finding a suitable hobby is the same as finding the right shoes; we need to find the right size, so it can fit us. It took a long time for me to figure it out about my hobbies until I realized that travelling was one of them.
I’m Cynthia, an Indonesian woman who loves travelling. Whenever people ask me about my hobby, I always answer that I have a lot of hobbies such as singing, listening to music, travelling, cycling, drawing and playing badminton, but what I love the most is travelling. Travelling is like a rainbow for me which always colors and makes my day. Some people may think that travelling is not as important as other hobbies, but for me, it is. I am very happy to visit places that are still natural, full of cultures and traditions. By doing these activities, I get pleasure and satisfaction.
There are a lot of benefits of travelling; it’s good for our mental and physical health, sharpens creativity and skill, and we get memorable experiences. I find it interesting that I get all of those benefits while travelling. I’d been travelling to some Asian countries, yet the most memorable moment was my trip to Thailand. I found myself in a new environment, meeting new people. I tried their special dishes which were something that people usually ate, but the thing which made my trip even more exciting was learning their language, culture and traditions. I have never forgotten that one day, I met some monks. They taught me how to meditate properly; I chanted some mantras while meditating. It was difficult but fun. Also, they taught me how to control my emotions and gave me some advice about life. It was one of the most unforgettable moments in my life.
In conclusion, it is important to make a hobby out of something that we love, not just something that we like.
